Mommy is proud of my new-found friends

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

This past week, I finally noticed I have hands. It’s kinda funny, because I guess I knew they were there all along…. I mean, I’ve been sucking on them and trying sooo hard to get my fingers in my mouth, and my thumb in particular. It’s only logical that I actually have hands!  But now I know where they live–at the end of my arms!

Mommy made a few telephone calls about it to let her own Mommy and some other people know. I guess it’s kind of a big deal! Yay!

Happy Baby, Happy Mommy…

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

As he gets older, he gets easier to take care of. Mom said last night was his “best night EVER”. No fussing, just playful and smiling, happy as a clam. I was working, so I missed it, but Mom had a great time, and was proud and just ecstatic.

Shots!

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Yep… Yesterday was his 2-month checkup, and he got three shots in his upper thighs. All in all, he took it really well, we thought, but he was definitely NOT pleased about it!

He’s at 13 lbs 2 oz now, and getting longer/taller by the day!

One of the highlights was his Mom–the needlephobe–helping to hold his legs and she WATCHED him get the shots. Amazing! I’m making a joke about this a little bit, but seriously… I was surprised to see Mom handle the whole needle thing as well as she did. Kudos, Momma! ;)

We’re supposed to start supplementing his breastmilk diet with Vitamin D now, since apparently breastmilk doesn’t have enough of just that. That, or make sure he gets at least an hour’s worth of sun a week. We’re probably gonna go the sun route, since he definitely gets that with errands and the walks we all take together.

Next visit to the doc in two more months, and we get to discuss…..cereal?!? Already?!?!? Our boy’s growing WAY TOO FAST.

I can’t poo?

Friday, April 21st, 2006

I overheard my Mommy and Daddy talking today about how I’ve not pooed in my diaper in a couple days. They were saying that my regular poos should be stopping now that I’m all of two whole months old, and I may be starting to poo only every two or three days.

What, I’m supposed to just HOLD it?  Crazy Mommy and Daddy!  Crazy I say!

I’m really happy that I’m still playing booty tuba, though… If I wasn’t farting, I’d probably explode!

I’m kinda scared to see what comes out when nothing has for two days! Cross your fingers with me!  Wait, I can’t cross my fingers yet… I can’t even get my thumb in my mouth with any consistency yet, either. Help!

I have FEET? I have FEET!

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

Yesterday, I think I noticed my feet seriously for the first time. Mommy was holding me… I was sitting up, looking down, and then I got this odd look on my face, apparently… I just couldn’t stop staring. Apparently, I was hilarious! Mommy and Daddy couldn’t stop laughing.  Between you and me, somedays I think they’re both crazy!

Today, more of the same, but this time I got bent a little bit more forward and I reached out with my left hand to grab my left foot. Toes in hand, I tugged around for a second. Daddy got this look on his face like I was astonished and surprised… It was like "hey, I’m holding something, and I feel someone holding my foot the…SAME…WAY! HOLY CRAP!"

I am hysterical!  :)

My first time camping, and my first Easter… done, and done well!

I had a great time my first time EVER camping!

Daddy seemed to find all the chaos of my nephews pretty stressful at times, but I think I handled it all just fine! People generally left me alone, and I didn’t bother anyone either.

Mommy played games and Daddy carried me around a lot. I wasn’t sure what the deal was with the dancing orange thing everyone seemed to be worshipping; it seemed all hot and stinky to me most of the time. When I was awake, anyway!

The camper was fun; I got to try out a new bed for the first time; it was all folded up funny, and Daddy did some cursing trying to make it stay standing up and sorting out all the snaps and velcro bits. I think he called it a "Pack and Play". It was comfortable, though… I slept really well!

I enjoyed the Easter service (though the organ and bell choir must have seemed REALLY loud to Daddy; he covered my ears). I guess I should be honest here and tell you that I slept through most of it… But… next year, I’ll be awake, I promise!

Lots more camping this summer! I’m gonna love it!
