Here we go again!
I’m told I might get to SWIM!
[edit - 29 May 2006] Well, it looks like I didn’t get to go swimming after all. The water was supposedly too cold for me. And we didn’t camp both nights, either.
Kind of a weird weekend, but it worked out… I get too many of the shorter family members in my face at a time and I get a little wigged out, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it more as they get more used to me…
Yep… he sure did. Our guy laughed. His first time. Sure, he’s been smiling and making noises when smiling, but this was definitely laughing. Mom was bouncing him on her lap, and every time she stopped, he launched into a little laugh.
Awesome!
Stacey and I were talking last night and realized that Ben’s pretty much not wanted anything to do with a pacifier or our pinkies in a couple of weeks, if not a little longer. If he gets really hungry, he’ll latch onto a pinky or nook for a few seconds…until he realizes it’s not food, and then he rejects it, with prejudice.
Is this permanent? No idea. He never really liked the pacifier anyway, but he did have a thing for Mom and Dad’s pinkies. Must be a texture thing. He still roots around on his hand, though, and is getting pretty good at finding his thumbs when he needs to suck on something (particularly when he’s ready to nap).
We’ve also forgotten to mention that he seems to be teething like a crazyperson, chewing on fingers–doesn’t matter whose–toys, etc, and drooling like crazy, too. He seems to really focus on the left side of his mouth, so maybe that’s where his first tooth will come in? We’ll keep you posted, of course. :)
Today it was time to make some…to his car seat. He’s outgrown the first straps setting, and tonight we had to figure out how to adjust the stupid things. Turns out–once you find the manual–that it’s pretty easy. :)
He’s really getting bigger. We look at pictures from a month ago, two months ago, and such changes compared to now. It’s all going by much too quickly…
The first full week of Stacey back to work full-time is behind us. What a week!
She’d already been back to work part-time for the 4 weeks prior, and THAT was already fun enough… This was even more interesting.
About all we can say is… we survived! Ben seemed to have some issues adjusting to Yet Another New Schedule(tm), but we’re confident he’ll complete this next adjustment soon, as he’s already had to do before.
Meanwhile, we’re taking it easy this weekend, hoping to recover in time for the week coming…
It’s extremely hard to believe for us, but Ben’s already 12 weeks old as of today. Where has the time gone!?
We continue to be amazed by him, and impressed by him, and yes, humbled by him. He’s a blessing, a joy, and occasionally, a pain in the butt… but worth every second we have with him. We couldn’t have a more perfect son.
Today also marks Mom’s return to full-time work. She left the house nervous this morning. She’s been back to work half-time already for the last four weeks, and that was hard enough… Today, it seems, and this week, and moving forward in general, is gonna be a little bit harder. My own schedule gets shifted around some more as well to accommodate everyone and everything… But it’s totally worth it.
All we need now is someone to slow down time for us. It’s going by far, far too quickly!
